AFS is the leading international exchange program in the world.

An international, not-for-profit organization, AFS gives hundreds of American high school students every year the opportunity to live and study in a foreign land. Similarly, hundreds of American families host a high school age student from another country.

Students involved in AFS Shorewood have traveled to over 20 countries around the world.Shorewood has one of the most active local AFS chapters anywhere. There is both an adult chapter, and a student chapter which meets weekly and is a good place to meet other students interested in, and involved in, AFS.

The Shorewood Chapter of AFS welcomes two students to the high school for the 2008/09 school year: Signe Danielson (female from Norway) living with the Annette Maki family, and Cyd Escobar (male from the Philippines) living with the Michael and Lisa Buethe family.

SHS students studying abroad this year include R.J. Hayes (Hungary)  and Megan Gallagher (Italy).
